Attending my first Sabeel Retreat was a complete change to my spiritual and physical being. Waking up for the night prayers, praying Fajr in congregation, and reciting the Qur'an in circles, all in open lush green fields was something I had never experienced. Socialising with likeminded brothers, sharing stories with one another, advising each on what career paths to take, and on how to improve our characters was all part of this nurturing programme. My worldview then began to shape.

It was only once I came to Sabeel that did I began to recognise the importance and benefits of a well-structured learning methodology. The Sabeel methodology is unique in that it not only focuses on the academic studies of Islam but places a great emphasis on the practical, Tarbawi principles of learning, allowing students to actualise their learning in their daily lives.

Joining the 3-year Sabeel programme was the best decision I ever made. It has helped me to develop my knowledge, worship and character; overall making me more confident as a Muslim. There is something about the whole Sabeel Programme which is genuinely refreshing. I felt a sense of relief after attending just one retreat. The Qiyam, Qur'an circles, brotherhood and learning have change my whole way of thinking. The actual content of the retreats is unique and I was always told that Usul in our religion was crucial but I could never see why this was so critical until I attended Sabeel. Now I feel that for the Muslims in the West a grounding in Usul and attending Sabeel is mandatory.
